Garrison citizens plan Fun Day for July 13

Another totally fun and enjoyable day is in store at Garrison’s annual Fun Day Celebration on Saturday, July 13.  This event is also the community’s annual celebration. Like last year, the newly renovated city park will be the center of activity for the day. The day begins with the Howard Schoonover Memorial and Cancer Awareness Poker Run Fundraiser with Registration at the Hitchin’ Post at 8 AM a.

Iowa State Fair Names New Foods Finalists

"Happiness Is" new food at the Iowa State Fair! Eight concessionaires submitted tasty treats in the new foods contest to vie for a finalist title. Fairgoers can try these offerings along with countless other Fair foods August 8-18. Bringing the beach to Iowa, the Shrimp Corndog, available at the Po-Boy Stand, is a savory snack featuring three fresh shrimp dipped in corndog batter, fried to golden perfection and topped with a sweet jalapeno glaze.

Bake Sale Benefit Friday at VGH Cafeteria

Party in the Park begins tonight! Weather forecasters say no rain today

Party in the Park begins Thursday! Party in thd Park begins tonight! Weather forecasters say there is no rain in the forecast for Thursday, although Friday and Saturday each have a chance of scattered precipitation Activities begin at 5 p.m with the free supper at the Farmers Savings Bank & Trust-Vinton parking lot. The Kiddie Parade participants also gather there for the annual ride/walk to the courthouse, which begins at 6:30 p.

Breast Cancer Survivors to meet July 2

22nd Annual Party in the Park will be full of Fun and Excitement! This year’s Party in the Park Festival will be held June 27-29 and once again the committee has put together some great activities, entertainment and fun. The theme for this year’s festival is “A Sweet Home Celebration.”  The theme is designed to celebrate our local area with lots of local entertainment, food and fun.

Any talent you can think of — We want you to perform for this year’s Party in the Park Celebration RIVERSIDE'S GOT TALENT on Saturday, June 29! A total of 18 acts will have the opportunity to showcase their talents for up to 5 minutes each at Riverside Park.

Vinton’s upcoming ‘Party in the Park’ three-day festival is a great opportunity for families and people of all ages to relax, play games, eat some amazing food and enjoy some great entertainment. It also provides a chance to enjoy some friendly competition with others in a wide array of sporting (and eating) events!   Friday, June 28 / Riverside Park - At 6 PM, the Party in Pink 5K Walk/Run will begin at the Riverside Park area located across from Virginia Gay Hospital.

Hook and Cook: BC Conservation plans fishing event for VFW, AMVETS

On Sunday July 7, Benton County Conservation will be hosting a fishing clinic for local veterans at Rodgers Park in the enclosed shelter on the east side of the Park. Breakfast will be served in the morning from 7-10:30. Free will offering includes Breakfast and lunch. Basic casting techniques, knot tying and general fishing tips will be covered prior to fishing.

Trees Forever and Iowa DNR Hosting Event at Prairiewoods in Hiawatha Whether you call it your backyard forest, your woodland, or your grove, landowners interested in learning more about the care, maintenance, and maximizing the benefits of your backyard forest are encouraged to attend an upcoming field day being sponsored by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Trees Forever.
